Ah, Auden's Twelve Songs. #IX, so memorable! And this too: grief has no timetable.

Thanks so much for writing and sharing this. I didn't know that the Heightsmen performed and recorded "Swingtown" at their fall Cafe, and this was the first time I'd seen that particular video. I also appreciated your getting up and speaking and singing in remembrance of Eric.

Glad I didn’t chicken out of saying something in Sunday! And isn’t it great that the video had a little snippet of Eric singing? It was a beautiful tribute.

Thank you for this, Christine! I’m laughing because I moved back from the mic in anticipation of the high harmony.

You are so smart! I was holding the lyrics and mic so I had too many things going on. And didn’t know who was going to sing each part but I’m always high harmony. 😂

This was a lovely tribute. What a wonderful idea to have a memorial a year later, especially to celebrate such a vibrant life. It seems like he reminded you to live in life and continues after his death. I had a particular fondness for The Rose in high school and found I remembered all the lyrics as I listened along.

Thank you! Yes, Eric was one of those guys who was always doing something. He loved music so much and was very good at it. We all should do what we love because that much joy and energy we bring to things is what makes the world a more beautiful place.

Yeah, The Rose is a really fun song actually. Easy lyrics to remember and so much you can do if people can sing parts. You have loud and soft and well known enough that the audience can sing along.

What a beautiful tribute to your near-cousin. His “Swingtown” arrangement is fantastic and full of life. ❤️

Thank you, Tara! Yes, isn’t it fun? And really he wrote these things with parts as a young man. He didn’t start music till he was 14, which is actually pretty late compared to many successful musicians I know.

He sounds like a very talented friend. I hope the music gave him a great deal of joy. (It sounds like it did.)

Sorry for your loss…

You are correct. We all die so it’s important to live our best lives and realize that we will never do things any younger.
