Hi Zina, I’m reading Wilson’s Odyssey translation now and it’s awesome. Before that I re-read most of Lattimore’s Iliad in anticipation of Wilson’s release. The difference is crazy. I read his Odyssey in college too. The Catherine project looks interesting too. Lots of good info in this post 😊

One of the essays I am working on right now is about the different translations of the Odyssey and what makes each translator want to write a new translation. I think the Lombardo version is interesting and the audiobook read by Stanley is quite well done. However, Lattimore is quite good. I will be curious how you take to Wilson’s new Iliad!

If you have not tried Catherine Project courses I highly recommend them. My husband is studying Aristotle’s Rhetoric and Poetics and also Max Weber’s work. I have taken Latin as a language as well as studied the Iliad, Augustine’s Confessions, Aeneid, and Aristotle’s Politics. It’s a wonderful program!

I liked the name and I imagine there are lots of podcasts that have the same or very similar names.

Oooh which makes did you like? The poll is anonymous. It looks like The Beauty of Things is winning out as a title and NO ONE currently has that as a name. “Beautiful Things” yes, but not *Beauty of Things* which will mean little to nothing to most people unless they are fans of Robinson Jeffers.

People who get things done jump right in! I think that's a positive for impetuousness!

Thank you so much, Diane! I impetuously drove up last minute to Newburyport TODAY to see Bob Crawford read at the library and finally met up with Alfred Nichol! Finally got my book signed. Ha! I have no impulse control but boy today was fun.

What is wrong with being rash and impetuous?

Ha! Well… it may have gotten me in trouble in various aspects of my life. Good trouble? Bad trouble? Who’s to say?
